Zemp Farmaceutical
Zemp Farmaceutical is a small, family-owned hemp producer in northern Indiana. The produce a variety of CBD products under the Zemp Hemp brand name. Zemp originally engaged me to redesign their website and migrate it from a standalone HTML site to Wordpress. In addition, I built their online store using Woocommerce.
The project later expanded to include a brand refresh and new product labels.
CLIENT: ZEMP FARMACEUTICAL
ROLE: WEB/UX DESIGN, GRAPHIC DESIGN, WEB DEVELOPMENT
PLATFORM: WORDPRESS/WOOCOMMERCE
Project Overview
As noted above, I was engaged to rebuild their website into a more manageable, secure platform. The original site was built in traditional HTML by a local IT company and was hosted on their server. Zemp had been plagued by server outages and an inability to update their own site. I proposed Wordpress because it’s easy to manage and cost-effective. I helped secure new hosting and set up Wordpress.
As part of the migration and redesign I also refreshed the Zemp brand with new colors and typefaces.
Brand Refresh
Color
I retained the original Zemp green as the primary brand color and added a new secondary green. I also added several bright colors to give the brand a strong and recognizable vibrance.

Revised Logo
The client wanted to retain their original logo design but didn’t have the source design files needed to produce high-resolution assets. So we recreated the logo and built new lockups with updated letter spacing and better proportions than the originals.
Typefaces
I incorporated all new typefaces for the brand. Chippewa Falls is a decorative typeface used to specific treatments to show a fun and quirky brand identity. I used Bicyclette for headings, as it’s clearly readable and complements the rounded forms of Chippewa Falls.
And finally, I relied on Acumin Pro for body copy because it’s a hard-working typeface that reads well in both print and online in any size.
Merch Concepts
During the brand work I also developed a few alternate logo treatments and merch options.
Product Labels
During the course of the project the client also asked me to design new product labels. The new labels bring a fresh, new look to the product while retaining the well-known Zemp drop logo. I incorporated new brand colors and typography. This portion of the project presented some challenges, as I had to ensure that all FDA-required disclaimers and supplement facts were included.
Website
I completely redesigned the website to incorporate the new brand, along with updated photography. I also design and built a Woocommerce store.
